A one-day wellness itinerary for Guam

Whenever I visit a new city or town, my first instinct is to look up the best wellness-related spots and ways to experience the place like a local resident. I recently spent time in both California and Guatemala and found myself seeking out wellness itineraries in each. Where could I go to take a yoga class? What restaurants were best for a healthy lunch? How could I experience each place’s unique natural beauty?

It got me thinking about the wellness itinerary I’d recommend to a Guam visitor or even for a local who wanted to take a self-care day. I reflected on places I personally go to, businesses I frequent often and what experience I would curate for a relaxing and health-focused day on the island.

Here is my 1-day wellness itinerary for Guam:

Sunrise paddle

One of my favorite outdoor activities to do here is paddle boarding. Start your morning with a quiet and scenic paddle around Tumon Bay. Depending on the conditions, you might even catch a few turtle and dolphin sightings. Check out SUP Shack Guam and Paddle Guam for rentals.

Breakfast at Cafe Gudcha

Next, head on over to Cafe Gudcha for breakfast. This quaint café located in Tumon strives towards a healthier, greener Guam. They serve organic, fair-trade coffee and teas, offer plant-based options and utilize a handful of locally sourced ingredients. A few of my menu favorites include the lavender hum tea, oat milk matcha latte and vegan eggplant panini.

Take a morning yoga class

Guam has an increasing amount of options for all styles of yoga these days. If you’re staying in Tumon, explore the morning class schedules at The Tsubaki Tower and Hilton Guam Resort. If you’re looking to take a drive, head down to The Yoga Garden located in beautiful and lush Sånta Rita-Sumai.

Book a massage

Elevate your self-care day by booking a massage treatment to relax and de-stress. A few spas to check out include Island Skin Spa, Guam Serenity Massage and Natural Ginger Spa.

Pick up lunch at Fu’una Cultures

One of my top recommendations for a grab-and-go lunch is Fu’una Cultures. Serving up daily specials and a variety of takeaway options, Fu’una Cultures is Guam’s go-to for whole food, plant-based creations. Call in your order ahead of time for their lunch special and sit outside at the nearby Serena Park to enjoy.

Coastal walk

Spend the rest of the afternoon soaking up Guam’s coastal views. If you’re looking for something more active, I recommend a beach hike along Tanguisson Beach passing Hila’an and Shark Cove. If you’d rather post up and relax, take a drive to Ritidian and escape to Ritidian Eco Beach Resort.

Catch the sunset

Closeout the day at Puntan Dos Amåntes, Guam’s most famous and most frequented visitor attraction. Rising 368 feet from the reef below, this sight offers views of both the Eastern and Western sides of the island and is a great place to watch the sunset.

Bring your headphones, and download an app like Insight Timer or Calm to listen to a guided meditation as you reflect on your day and soak in the stunning beauty of Guam.
